Make sure your web developer is able to design your website by the time you needed.  Unfortunately, designers that are in demand and have a high clientele may not be able to accommodate your date.  However, this is something you obviously want ask early in the conversation.

Another important factor to think about when considering a web developer is if they are support services to assist you with updating your website after it is launch and what are the cost associated with those services.  Your website will change as your business change and unless you are planning to make updates to your website yourself, this last point is a very important one.
